According to Globes, Azrieli Malls is planning to open the first Israeli branch of international Italian food chain Eataly in Israel.

The food chain would open in Tel Aviv’s Azrieli Sarona Tower.

The chain started operating mostly in the US and Italy and later on, expanded to Russia, Denmark, South Korea, Sweden, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and and United Arab Emirates.

The main idea of the chain is to sell products from Italy displayed like a giant delicatessen divided into food categories. In addition to the store, every branch has a small restaurant section where meals can be tasted.

Founded in 2007 by Italian businessperson Oscar Farinetti, Eataly first opened in Turin and then expanded worldwide.

Negotiations to open the chain’s first branch were already held in the past with Hazahav Mall in Rishon Lezion. The plan didn’t suceed for legal reasons.
