A hospital in Verona (Italy) will be the first one to use an Israeli device called MRgFUS against Parkinson’s disease.

The MRgFUS — Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound — was produced in Israel and bought by the Italian hospital for the cost of 7 million.

The device is the first of its kind to be installed in Europe. Besides the Parkinson’s disease, it can also be used to treat patients with benign tumours, neuropathic pain, osteomas and more.

The Israeli device was evaluated at the Borgo Trento Hospital for a brief period to test its effectiveness. It can fully or partially eliminate the patients’ tremors provoked by the disease.

The sanitary device is not invasive: it does not require surgery, the procedure is painless and has no side effects.
