Pepsi has announced its intention to buy Tel Aviv-based beverage company SodaStream for $3.2 billion.

The deal is the result of the fact that more consumers are turning away from sugary beverages and toward more sustainable in-home options.

This deal is PepsiCo’s largest buyout in 8 years.

SodaStream products are currently available in more than 80,000 retail stores across 45 countries.

The deal, which is set to close in January 2019, states that SodaStream will become a subsidiary of PepsiCo, and its CEO Daniel Birnbaum will still lead the company’s growth.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was happy to congratulate SodaStream on the acquisition deal.
