Yandex has obtained permission from the Israeli Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety to test its self-driving car on Israeli public roads, as reported by NoCamels.
The autonomous cars of Yandex operate by themselves with a safety engineer in the driver’s seat.
The company already tested in Russia and the US. The launch in Israel will expand its capabilities.
Yandex has chosen Israel since it is a leading tech hub with high-quality roads.
In 2017, Yandex has also opened a branch in Tel Aviv of the Yandex School of Data Analysis. The branch offers a one-year career advancement program in machine learning.
