Israel, Greece and Cyprus are building a remarkable framework of cooperation

Prime Minister Benjamon Netanyahu hosted Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on thursday in Jerusalem. This is the second trilateral meeting in less than 12 months.

At the center of the meeting the East Med pipeline that will connect Israel gas fields to Cyprus, Greece and the rest of Europe, but also electric grid connection and a joint rescue force that will boost responsiveness to natural calamities. But this is just the beginning as PM Netanyahu tweeted

Israeli Energy Minister Yuvail Steinitz noted:

“Additional natural gas discoveries in opening the Israeli and Cypriot waters to oil and gas exploration are making our region attractive, and a common gas pipeline is one of the strategic channels for exporting to Europe. As part of a series of trilateral meetings, this meeting is bolstering cooperation between the countries, and I was glad to see our common desire to move this project forward as part of closer relations between the countries.”
