My god, what a day! Cold and exhausting but incredibly fulfilling. We visited the Brooklyn Museum, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and The Studio Museum in Harlem. From Brooklyn to Harlem, the museums were so wonderfully curated, exhibited, and diverse.

The Schomburg Center is an incredible institution in Harlem. From the library, the store, the exhibitions, and the teen center I felt that it was very much a museum by the community for the community. While it was unfortunate that we were not able to speak to anyone there I felt grateful that we were given the chance to explore the center on our own.

At the Brooklyn Museum our guide Monica Marino had us do a great activity where we looked at a specific exhibit without reading the text. It was really fascinating to hear our group discover on our own what the exhibit hope to accomplish, what the pieces where, and why they were in the exhibit. People were bouncing ideas of one another and working together to say this is what we thought it meant, this was how we felt, this was what we learned, and these are the questions that we have for you.
