Day 8 — Climate Museum and Google Hangouts

We were greeted by the Executive Assistant to the CEO at the Climate Museum. Just three years into its founding, the Climate Museum has had its first exhibition that included an art exhibition on the subject of climate change. I was interested in the structure of the organization and was surprised to learn that there are only 4 board members but nearly 50 advisory board members. 2016 spending was just over 70K — which supports the assertion that fundraising is one of the organization’s greatest challenges.

After the quick introduction to CM, and a few questions that followed, we connected online with a curator from the Storm King Art Center and heard about the upcoming exhibition focused on climate change. This place is on my list of places to visit and I found the question about materials and sustainability to be interesting and appropriate. Although there wasn’t enough time to discuss and there wasn’t anything to look at, the overview was interesting.
