Todays visit to the Museum of Modern Art was hectic to say the least. Bursting as the seams with visitors, there was an air of excitement as every piece of art received their due attention. Earlier that morning, the atmosphere was much more relaxed as we listened to an enlightening perspective on digital media and education.

Our host Sara Bodinson gave a practical over view of the tools that one needs in order to connect with potential visitors. I enjoyed hearing that their online content was made for an audience with a high education, but not necessarily well versed in art or history. I myself am sometimes lost when it comes to contemporary art, but looking at all the people that came today it’s apparent that understanding art is not a precursor to enjoying it.

Fall of the House of Usher

I myself enjoyed Mario Merz’s Fall of the House of Usher (presumably based on the Edgar Allen Poe story of the same name). Other patrons also seemed to be enjoying it as well, and it speaks well for the future of museum patrons. What people enjoy will always surprise us, and those surprises are worth investing in no matter the medium or the subject.
