01 Overview

Feigong GCS (Ground Control Station) is a drone controlling software on windows platform that is compatible with our new product LTE-Link(image and data transmission system). You can easily plan your routes, complete a variety of tasks such as taking photos, scanning and get the high-definition image transmission without distance limit.

02 Background

According to the user research, we found that most of our users will use Mission Planner or QGC on PC to plan the routes and monitor flight data.

However, due to the commercial strategy, our product LTE-Link will be not compatible with any open-source software, so we need to design a new software.

03 Process

1) Persona

Our user groups are the same as CUAV GS, and we still prioritize the needs of the first group.

2) Competitive Analysis

I have compared the main functions, information architectures and task flows of some rival products, such as Mission Planner(MP), QGC and DJI GS PRO, to find out their problems and tried to improve.

3) Definition

Unlike a mobile, tablet and laptop have bigger screens, we can provide more professional functions.

04 Solution

1) Home Page

The main interface clearly displays the flight status, attitude, distance, speed and so on. You can easily switch to the video window or send tasks to the drone.

2) Route Planning/Survey

You can choose routes, surveys, structural scans or geofences by clicking on the left side toolbar. Overview of the task is on the top, while on the right side is the setting panel for the task.
