First Night in Paris

Its A Music Night

Paris has been raining for past two weeks. But as thirsty Californians, we love to see the rain. It’s so refreshing and making both memory and photos so vivid.

After we settled down our hotel near the Arc de Triomphe and decided to spend this first evening at Sainte-Chapelle church for a classical concert of Bertrand Cervera.

We started to walk from Arc de Triomphe towards Champs-Elysees.

Each corner of Paris, always busy but beautiful.

My favorite river Seine still amazing me and captivating me. I’m breathless.

This is Sainte-Chapelle church which located in the same island where famous Notre Dame situated. It’s much less well known among tourists than Notre Dame. But it’s one of most beautiful Gothic churches famous for its walls of stained glass windows.

People are getting ready for tonight’s concert. The musicians led by Bertrand Cervera will play Vivaldi’s epic masterpiece Four Seasons. We have listened to its performance when we were in Venice last year. I love it — one of most elegant piece of music in history.

Best time to appreciate the stained glass windows is when sun shines through them during the day. We will have to come back for a sunny day to view this wonderful scene.

Bertrand Cervera is a very energetic and clever musician. He certainly reinterprets the spirit of Vivaldi’s music in his own unique way, infused his own meaning mixed with being humorous, cheerful, dramatic or even exaggerating a bit. But the audiences seem to appreciate that with generous applauses.

I’m certainly convinced by his way of interpreting Vivaldi music. I joyfully bought his CD and asked for his signature. He is quite a humble person to satisfy my request.

After the concert, the sky is still drizzling. However the night never rests in Paris.

Walking by the bank of Seine is alway my best way to listen to this restless city which captivating millions visitors from around the world.

What a beautiful night in Paris!
