Jigsaw Puzzle Talk: “The Seraph’s Gaze” by 🧩 Jester Puzzles
Exploring an angelic vibe, the title piece of a major category within these puzzles.
If you’ve browsed my jigsaw puzzle web site, you may have noticed that I have four main categories (currently). I actually have a few more planned, but it’s four, for now. Onf of them is entitled “The Uncanny Valley of Divinity.”
This category contains mostly angels, but usually wiht some sort of … twist. While some of the angels in the collection are pure, sweet, and simply visually striking, others veer more into the surreal.
I did this on purpose, of course. And this image was what lead me into all of it.
You see, I was doing all of the normal clean-up work, coloring, and editing that I normally do to these AI images, when I had the idea of doing something really out-there with her eyes.
So, I hand-painted the yellow atop what were originally pretty, well, pretty eyes. And the strangeness really struck me. The ethereal vibe was already emerging, but this added an unsettling layer that brought in a lot of tension.

So yeah, I think that the contrast of something pure, like an angel juxtaposed with this radiant and intense power, offers the feeling of divinity that should be revered.
The idea was to unsettle the viewer by contrasting (1) the delicate softness we usually think of with angels, with (2) the kind of otherworldly intensity that reminds us that angels are powerful beings beyond their surface-level appearance.
And so, as you’ll see as this series progresses, I have all sorts of angels included — many of them with glowing eyes, many with body tattoos, some with unfocused aspects, and many with irridescent wonder.
As usual, I can’t take artistic credit for what AI generates, but I added a ton of really wild stuff to these pieces that really brings them to life. AI is a wonderful training ground for digital artists because each piece is a new challenge — not only to envision improvements, but to bring them out effectively.
Working with AI has made me much better in general Photoshop, which tranlates into higher quality work in my non-AI digital art, for sure. So, once again, I see AI as a huge win for artists!
