Plus a dose of optimism (with Space Bubbles!) and the reason entertainment is in a backslide.

  1. The Metaverse Sure Feels Like An Enterprise Thing by Alex Kantrowitz — Finally, a use for the metaverse! In all seriousness, I love this take. It kind of blows up my theory that new tech starts as toys for consumers. But, wow it’s a compelling case.
  2. How Satanic is Dalle-E 2? by Sasha Chapin — A funny and nuanced take on what easy to create virtual art will do to the world. One of the rare articles that holds empathy for the creators whose jobs are disappearing and excitement for what the future might look like beyond them.
  3. Are you not entertained? by Mark Manson — Stunning work on the cause of the ever decreasing quality of our entertainment. Quotes one of my favorite authors I’ve never read, David Foster Wallace.
  4. Brain Food: Good Advice by Farnam Street (Shane Parrish) — When I see good advice in a title, I run the other way. Thankfully I gave this newsletter a chance. Good advice in here about how to be a better human, not just a productivity machine.
  5. Weekly Dose of Optimism #3 by Packy McCormick — The title sounds cheesy, but the newsletter is anything but. Genuinely surprising tech advances I’d never heard about in here (including Space Bubbles!!!).
