Definition

The CNC plasma cutter refers to the workpiece command (or program) used to control the machine tool or equipment. It is a new control method given in digital form. When this instruction is provided to the control device of the CNC automatic cutting machine, the cutting machine can automatically perform cutting according to a given program. CNC cutting is composed of two parts: CNC system and mechanical frame.

Working Principal

The plasma cutting machine is combined with an automatic numerical control system, which uses high-temperature high-speed air jets sprayed at the nozzle to ionize, thereby forming a conductor. When the electric current passes, the conductive gas forms a high-temperature plasma arc. The heat of the arc locally melts (and evaporates) the metal at the cut of the workpiece, and a method of processing to remove the molten metal by the power of the high-speed plasma gas flow to form the cut. The slender and stable plasma arc formed by the circular airflow technology ensures that any conductive metal can be cut smoothly and economically.

User Guide

Operators perform operations in the following order of switching on and off each day:

1. Start the air compressor and air dryer.

2. Start the machine tool control cabinet; start the plasma power supply.

3. After setting all parameters, start the program to cut.

4. After the work is completed, turn off all power and air sources.

Safety Rules

1. Operators must wear protective masks, welding gloves, hats, filter dust masks, and soundproof earmuffs. Persons who are not wearing protective glasses are strictly prohibited from directly observing the plasma arc, and bare skin is strictly prohibited from approaching the plasma arc.

2. When cutting, the operator should stand upwind. The air can be drawn from the lower part of the workbench, and the open area on the operation desk should be reduced.

3. When cutting, when the no-load voltage is too high, the grounding, zero connection and torch handle insulation of the appliance should be checked, the workbench should be insulated from the ground, or no-load circuit breakers should be installed in the electrical control system.

4. The high-frequency generator should be equipped with a shielding shield. After starting the arc with high-frequency, the high-frequency circuit should be cut off immediately.

5. The use of thorium and tungsten electrodes should comply with legal regulations.

6. The cutting operation and cooperating personnel must wear labor protection articles as required. Safety measures must be taken to prevent accidents such as electric shock, falling from high altitude, gas poisoning and fire.

7. The welding machine used on site should be equipped with a rainproof, moisture-proof and sun-proof shed, and corresponding fire-fighting equipment should be installed.

8. When welding or cutting at high altitudes, safety belts must be fastened, and fire protection measures should be taken around and below the welding and cutting, and there should be special personnel supervision.

Prospects

Due to the advantages of high cutting speed and good cutting quality of the CNC plasma cutting machine, it will replace some of the manual plasma cutting, artificial flame cutting machine and CNC flame cutting in the near future.
