The young and talented — welcome to Jit Team! part 2
Remember when we described how awesome Spatial Chat is and how well it worked when organizing an integration party during the pandemic? Do you also recall us telling you that we are planning to use Spatial Chat for yet another great, slightly different, event? Well, welcome to 2021, one could say, when you can get to know a company just by sitting in front of your laptop. Our online summer internship recruitment event exceeded our expectations on many levels — and this is that story.
This year, our summer internship program has grown substantially as we decided to hire more interns. Taking into account all the restrictions, safety measures, and rules associated with the pandemic and not being able to meet face-to-face, we hit upon a marvelous idea of using Spatial Chat to conduct the needed recruitment processes with all the candidates. Our space on Spatial Chat let the attendees of the event get to know Jit Team by moving through different rooms. In some of them, the candidates had to answer technical questions asked by our IT specialists, based on their future career choices. One of the rooms was designed specifically to check their knowledge of English. Our two English teachers had a short conversation with each candidate to make sure their level of this language was sufficient (yes, we employ English teachers who improve our language skills — isn’t it just fantastic?!). In other rooms, the candidates were given basic facts about the company. This was the first time we decided to run such a complex recruitment process online so, obviously, we didn’t even know how such a plan would pan out, but as always, we were carefully prepared and ready to learn the necessary lessons. Now, we can officially say how extremely proud we are of all the people involved in this initiative! We gathered sixty active participants at the event (wow!). The number is really impressive; bear in mind that the whole thing took place online, which automatically makes it more difficult to pay attention to every single attendee. It seems that we forgot about one relevant factor — time saving! The entire process was very smooth and just thinking about scheduling individual interviews (either face-to-face or online) for all those people gives us a throbbing headache.
The pandemic made us more creative and even hungrier for modern solutions to daily problems. In spite of all the hardships Covid-19 has been causing, there are some uplifting conclusions we can all draw from the new reality, aren’t there? The Team always finds its way through what some would call ‘the impossible’ a few years ago. Also, to all you who decided to take part in our event, and who are graduating from universities and starting their career in those uncertain times — you are awesome, keep up the good work and thanks for taking your time to get to know us. To all of the interns, who are starting their summer program very soon — congrats!
As of the first day of July, twenty-two interns are starting their adventure with software development and Jit Team. They will be taking active part in many internal projects, which will allow them to broaden their technical knowledge but also learn what working in this industry really looks like — a little reality check never killed anybody! Could we be any more excited about the 2021 summer internship program?!
