The story of the Tofte family is absolutely heartbreaking. It is the kind of tragedy that is devastating in the fact that it never should have happened. Wyatt Tofte had so much ahead of him. He deserved to live a long and happy life. I cannot even begin to imagine what Chris and Angela Tofte are going through, both physically and mentally. The loss of a child is something no parent should have to go through. I hope social media could bring Chris and Angela Tofte some comfort after all they have been through. Social media could get them in contact with other people who have experienced similar tragedies. They could join a Facebook group for survivors of fire and natural disasters, or one for parents who have lost a child. Speaking to others who understand what they are going through could bring them some comfort in knowing that they are not alone. I also think the Tofte family could help raise awareness online about wildfires for people who do not understand how dangerous they can be. The Tofte family should have been evacuated before that night. And while fire is unpredictable, there should have been better safety precautions. Social media could be used to circulate evacuation plans and safety procedures for people who live in areas that are threatened by forest fires.
