Business Standard: ByteDance’s TikTok asks US court to intervene as Trump order looms

I personally believe that Trump’s Committee on Foreign investment is overstepping in trying to forceTikTok to sell its assets in the United States. There has been no evidence that TikTok has been saving data and giving it to the Chinese government, which is what the Trump administration is claiming. I also believe that if the app was a true threat threat to the privacy of its users or to national security, there would not have been so much delay. I have been following this issue since July, and nothing has really happened. Trump gives the app until a certain date to either be partnered with an American company, or the app will be removed from app stores in the United States. But when that date comes, instead of following through on his threats, the president pushes the date back. Even now, the deadline for TikTok was extended until Nov. 27. If there was substantial evidence that showed TikTok was stealing American users’ data and selling it to a foreign government, TikTok should have been banned in the United States and faced legal action as soon as it came out. Unless there is true evidence showing that an app is dangerous to the public, it should be allowed to operate freely without government intervention.
