Why did you choose JMU?
It’s cliche but the moment I stepped on campus I felt like I was where I should be. The campus was idyllic; the school had strong academics; and there was just this incredibly positive vibe everywhere I went. It was close to home but just far enough away that I knew I would get the “full college experience.” And the in-state tuition didn’t hurt.
How did your degree from JMU lead you to where you are today?
The thing I gained the most from my Finance degree was the inter-disciplinary focus of the business school. Talk to anyone my age that passed through Showker and they’ll tell you about COB 300. I’m convinced that learning about all aspects of business helped me immensely as I have taken on significantly different roles throughout my career.
What does working for the Federal Government community mean to you?
It means a great deal to me. While I perform a non-customer-facing (i.e. back office) function, part of my role is to ensure that as a company we are investing in our programs, providing cost-efficient solutions, and ensuring our customer’s mission success. And I assure you that we are doing all three!
