JMU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEWEST CHAPTER FOCUSING ON ALUMNI SERVING AND SUPPORTING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

JMU Federal Dukes will become an official alumni chapter and assist in building deeper ties between JMU and the federal government.

The James Madison University Alumni Association announces that JMU Federal Dukes will join the alumni association as a Blue Ridge chapter. JMU Federal Dukes was founded in 2019 with a mission of creating stronger ties between alumni serving in the government, military or employed by its industry partners. It will be the first alumni chapter focused on professional development in a specific field.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the JMU Alumni Association as we look to support this important constituency serving our nation,” said Ann-Marie Johnson, President of JMU Federal Dukes. “Together, we will promote deeper connections between alumni in the government space and create pathways for students and alumni working in fields that support the government and military missions.”

In the next year, JMU Federal Dukes will create a series of networking events for alumni in the federal government market and develop learning and mentor opportunities for students aligned to supporting federal government missions. Ultimately, the group intends to strengthen the University’s commitment to building a pathway for students and create a robust workforce pipeline for the federal government in areas such as technology, national security, cybersecurity, finance and accounting, law enforcement investigations and healthcare.

The group has already developed a strong following online. The JMU Federal Dukes group on LinkedIn now boasts over 700 members.

“We are looking forward to working with this enthusiastic group of alumni,” said Carrie Combs, director of Alumni Relations and executive director of the JMU Alumni Association. “JMU has a long tradition of alumni holding prominent roles in government, and we hope to build upon those ties and create stronger career pathways for our students and alumni.”
