Create a Comic book poster in Photoshop

I always wanted to turn my favorite photos and subjects into comic-like scenes and characters etc. There are various you can achieve fun comic book effects for your photos. So, I learnt the simplest way by color half-toning the image in Photoshop.

Prerequisite
Image should be with 150ppi, if not change size using “Image Size” from Image tab in PS

Steps

1) Open Image and duplicate the background twice using CTRL + J. And rename the top one to “halftone” and below one to “edges”.
2) Select “edges” layer and goto Filter->Filter Gallery and select Artistic and then “Poster Edges” and set the properties as below.

3) Now to add the poster edges, open the layer style select “Stroke” and “Inner glow” and set the properties as below.

4) Then to adjust the color vibrancy, click on “Adjustment Layer Icon” and select “Vibrance” and increase the vibrance to +100

5) Next make the “edges” layer active and goto Filter->Pixelate and select “Color Halftone” and set the properties as below

6) Change the blend mode to “Soft Light
7) Next to create a chat bubble, create a new layer and open “Custom Shape Tool” from the left panel and select any one of the talk bubbles.

8) Open the layer style select “Stroke” and set the properties as below.

9) Next to add text, Open the “Type Tool” and select any font. I am using “Yikes” font.
10) Then finally open the layer style select “Stroke” and “Drop Shadow” and set the properties as below.
