Maps: a new way to browse jobs (Week 82)

Now when you visit a job board, like Downing Ventures’ job board, there’s a map thumbnail that shows you where all their portfolio jobs are located. You can get a good idea whether this gardener is more focused on Europe or the US, for example.

Bigger circles mean more jobs!

Then you can tap through and get a world map like the one at the top of this post.

And you can zoom in, and tap a circle to see the jobs only in a particular city…

It’s neat to have a more visual way to explore available roles.

And it’s fun to play with too, on desktop or mobile. Tap here to try it out.

Designers may recognise the map style as Toner by the award-winning SF-based design studio Stamen, which also re-designed Bing maps. Toner is a bold, beautiful, and monochrome map style, a perfect base layer for data, and it’s one of several remarkable map styles created by Stamen. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to make use of it!
