Adventure time

What’s this? Lady travelers? Alone? Scandalous! The times they sure are a-changing. They’re letting women do all sorts of crazy things these days (even though apparently we’re weaker, smaller, and less intelligent, in case you missed that recent newsflash*)!

*I’d like to know if, by this guy’s logic, being taller than most men I know would make me eligible for a raise. Please advise.

Big league

From Alaskan salmon fisherwomen to water protectors at Standing Rock, this Vogue project tells the stories of ridiculously inspiring American women. Read them. And then go out, have some crazy adventures, and change the world.

Perfect figures

Perfect Lego minifigures, that is. This set of tiny inspirational plastic women is a sight for sore feminist eyes. Arguably, adults will benefit from this as least as much as any child ever could. If you need me, I’ll be in my room, playing “Amelia Earhart and Frida Kahlo hunt dinosaurs, and there’s explosions and stuff, and also, Malala is there”.

Speaking of Malala…

Nobel Peace Prize-winner Malala Yousafzai (see above link for her Lego minifigure) is urging women and girls in her native Pakistan to fight for their rights through education. That grinding sound you hear is perspectives changing and priorities getting reevaluated all over the place.

The realest talk

This legendary piece by Caitlin Moran, hero of modern feminism, was first published in 2016 and is deservedly making a comeback this week. It’s got plenty of bad words and more uncomfortable truths than we could shake a stick at within a lifetime. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll say, “Oh man, that’s entirely too much information!” and you’ll laugh some more.

Join us again next week for your regularly scheduled moment of zen. And in case you missed it, here are the things that made the world better last week:
