How to give a good interview?

It’s simple than it sounds

Getting an interview call might sound an easy bit, but cracking a good interview is not an easy game. We often live in the illusion that our interviews might or might not go easy. Few of us are under-confident about our performance and few are overconfident about it. What really can change our interview is “ourselves”. We have to learn to be reasonable. A major perk to give a good interview is PRACTICE and BODY LANGUAGE. They say “Practice makes a man perfect”.

1. Practice for verbal and Non-Verbal Communication:

It is important that we prepare ourselves for verbal and non-verbal communication. With verbal it is important to take care of small detailing like forms of the verb, tense of the verb and how far the verb agrees with the subject. With non-verbal it is important that we give a very healthy vibe from our body language.

The first non-verbal communication could be our great starting or a quick ending. Hence, even the smartest and experienced job seekers prepare themselves for the interviews. Practicing good verbal or non-verbal communication portrays our confidence and enhances our personality. For example, standing straight and making eye contact and a firm handshake demonstrates our persona and ability to work.

It not only highlights our personality but also our approach and attitude towards our surroundings, work, and other teammates.

2. Dressing:

Now lets us also talk about “Dressing for a job or company”. One of the most underestimated characteristic while going for an interview is “Clothing”. Today’s casual dressing might work well for a few companies but most of the time it doesn’t if you have to make your way in a reputed firm.

Clothing speaks a lot about a person. It is not necessary to follow the culture of suiting up ourselves but it is surely important that we are “well-groomed”. We might not afford to dress in expensive formals, but we surely can look formal. You get the difference, wearing formals and looking formal? Once you’re satisfied with your formal look, wear a smile confidently. This will add more charm and positivity in your personality.

One last thing, never let the interviewer know that you’re nervous, even if you are. Your interview might end quickly in that case.

3. Listen:

“Listen”. Due to nervousness, under confidence or even overconfidence, our mental presence is in another whole universe. Hence, it is important that we ear up to what interviewer asks us.

If we’re not attentive enough about what is being asked and what is being delivered ultimately from our side, it may end up really quick. Who exactly is a good listener? A good listener is the one who listens to every detail or communication by the interviewer and responds accordingly.

That way we let the interviewer also know that we’re paying attention to what he/she says. Observe your interviewer, and match that style and pace.

4. Don’t talk too much:

Telling the interviewer more than he needs to know could be a blunder. Hence, the answer to only what is being asked. In case you haven’t prepared yourself up for the interview, you might stammer or ramble with the answers.

This will end up messing your interview entirely and you’ll be stricken out of the interview even before you get an idea about it. It is important that you read the description of the job and about the company. Match your position with the description of the job.

Don’t use any inappropriate language and don’t sound desperate to get the job. Take the 3Cs approach which says choices, chances, and changes.
The ultimate tip: Work on your answers.

It is good for you to know that you can do that job you’ve come for. But it is important that we make sure interviewer knows that too. Make sure that you convince the interviewer but same time don’t sound desperate.

In a nutshell, I would like to conclude by writing that these are simple perks to crack a good interview. There’s nothing in world that can not be achieved. Time and patience makes our way into the horizon.
