We always require some juggling between our job and other personal or professional commitments while working any kind of schedule. This is especially true for those of you who are employed in multiple part-time jobs. Not only do they have to balance work with their personal life, but they have to manage and coordinate various workloads and schedules.

We take part-time jobs by choice, sometimes we like the variety and the idea, sometimes out of financial necessity and sometimes just because we are too restless to sit idle.

Well here are some points which you must keep in mind if not religiously follow them:

KEEP IT CONFINED

While doing work multiple jobs, staying within an easy commute when possible helps reduce unnecessary stress, frustration and ensures efficiency in work.

TRY AND MAINTAIN A SCHEDULE

It is confusing when you are bouncing around from location to location. It’s better to use a weekly appointment calendar with 10 minute time slots. This helps in keeping all your engagements in place and reduces overlapping.

KEEP A CHECKLIST HANDY

Another helpful organizing tool is as easy as having a pen and pad of paper. Balancing two or more jobs gets distracting, which can make it easy to forget tasks. Organizing things well is key to success. Begin each day by writing a checklist of things that need to get done for each job. Maintain notes or reminders or slips inside your wallets, to keep yourself updated.

STRATEGIC CHOICE OF WORK

Keep various different jobs if you get bored easily, need a challenge, want a varied skill set or are considering a career change. It is advisable to find the jobs in the same field if you want to specialize in one field and gain experience and knowledge the fastest.

COMMUNICATE WELL. YES, COMMUNICATE!

Transparent in your dealings is good and helps you in managing expectations as needed. It is always better to keep your clients updated about your ongoing projects and keep buffer time in your hands. Do not perform multiple jobs simultaneously as you are bound to make errors.

BOUNTY OF REST

After days of working hard, you need to reward yourself. Relax in between your work shifts as working continuously might lead to loss in productivity and will kill you zeal and willingness to work. Set limits in accordance with the number of jobs you take.

But for now, remind yourself to look at your jobs as the means to that end — they’re temporary, and as long as you can power through for a little longer, you’ll reach your ultimate goal.
