COVID-19 changed nearly everything in our daily lives from the way we work in a team with our customers and how we communicate. Yesterday, Atlassian’s first remote summit took place and I had the pleasure of watching it from my home desk. As usual, the keynote and breakout sessions were packed with information, so I’d like to point out some of the coolest topics Atlassian announced.

Opening Keynote

The main takeaway for me is the announcement that every Atlassian cloud product is now FREE up to 10 users per product. This is a great change and reduces the hurdle to get started with the Atlassian products a lot.

Product Announcements

Premium Updates

Beside the announcement and the hard work for the Enterprise Cloud Atlassian is still working on the other tiers and announced some features requested by the cloud community.

For all Premium plans Atlassian added:

  • IP allowlisting: IP allowlisting allows customers to restrict access to other products based on trusted IP ranges. You ensure that the Cloud products only accessible via your VPN or Office network
  • Admin insights: Admin insights gives you the overview about the product usage and you’ll get more visibility into security, access and activity in your instances.
  • Sandbox: For me, the absolut highlight of the evening, a feature that many of our customers are asking for! Having an test environment and beeing able to test new product updates before rolling them out to the whole company is massive!

Jira

For Jira premium Atlassian announced:

  • Automation: Some month ago Atlassian aquired the app vendor of Automation for Jira which is now the global automation engine within Jira! This app is great because it gives non-IT-teams the ability and power to setup their own automations without filling the backlog of IT teams
  • Project Archiving: With project archiving administrators can now remove projects and their issues when they are now longer needed. That ensures that only relevant information can be found and seen within your Jira instances.
  • Advanced Roadmaps: Roadmap planning now adds multiple roadmaps into a “master” roadmap to have a better overview what is happing in your projects and products.

Roadmaps as you know them from next-gen projects are also now available for classic projects too!

Enough workout… lets move on with our recap!

Confluence

Atlassian also shipped 75 new templates to your Confluence instance which have been build by Atlassian Solution Partners and even the Co-CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes!

Too short mentioned imho is that Atlassian plans to release an automations for Confluence.

Bitbucket

For developers using Bitbucket cloud Atlassian released Code Insights. A feature which is already known to customers of Bitbucket Server and Data Center will now be released to Cloud too. Code Insights offers your team a way to gain more information about your code quality and integrates dozens of tools to improve the software you ship to your customers.

That’s it so far, thanks for listening and see you tonight at Day 2 of the Atlassian Remote Summit!
