There are emojis for beer, red wine, martini, and some sort of tequila sunrise… but not Whisky.

#WhiskyEmoji spoke to the people of the Internet who felt the absence of this left them unable to truly express themselves.

The cries and re-tweets of 70 thousand whisky emoji enthusiasts was submitted to Unicode (the democratic consortium who decide all future emoji) for their quarterly technical committee meeting.

#WhiskyEmoji was for formal approval in May 2105:

And as a direct result, added to emoji keyboards worldwide in 2016…
