For this project I was trying to get a better handle on my workflow and experiment with a very basic (and super skeuomorphic) interface concept.

I’m VERY interested in cultural and language education and love the idea of planting cultural artifacts in our spaces. Like pictures on our walls, plants in the corners, magazines on the coffee table, augmented reality can naturally embed small pieces of the world’s myriad cultures directly into our lives for closer observation, learning and appreciation.

For a complete experience, I see interface options including music to help set the mood, or even learn lyrics to a song in another language from a foreign country, contextually relevant videos for more detail, and depending on the cultural artifact, perhaps an exotic recipe complete with AR instructions perfect for your kitchen.

Tools:
-Google Poly for public 3D models
-Cinema4D for custom 3D models
-Adobe Dimension for lighting and previz rendering

Brought 3D model into Adobe Dimension for lighting, shading and accurate horizontal plane placement, created basic menu bars in Cinema4D, brought in as 3D model

Brought in each 3D model for the menu separately and lined them up vertically for matching lighting. See the lighting on the right side of the pagoda roof tiles compared to the front side? Chef’s kiss. Also the shadows underneath the pagoda model also feel very natural for this desk space.

Added rounded rectangle plane in Adobe Dimension and placed image from Youtube video as a sticker on the 3D rectangle
