As an Interaction and Design student at Utah Valley University — and as any good student would do — I have set some educational goals that I am currently in the process of working towards. These goals include: bettering my understanding of UX Design and the processes that go with it, more specifically, the conducting of user research and creation of user personas; improving my UI Design skills, particularly my use of white space and more dynamic, appropriate typography; and last but not least, improving my ability to work with vector graphics, whether it be in Sketch, Illustrator, or anything of the sort, in order to create more professional-looking icons.

As an entry-level UI and/or UX Designer, I aim to — quite obviously — gain as much experience as I feasibly can in order to get a solid grasp on the intricacies and processes that are involved in the complex field of interactive design. I aim to communicate with the people in similar fields and facilitate those relationships, whether it be online or in-person, in order to develop a personal network of people. With this, I feel that I will have the necessary base to build my career as a designer on.

As I progress throughout the years in my career as a designer, I aim to gain new perspectives and insights as to what makes for a great user interface and a great, delightful experience for people in the United States — and perhaps throughout the world — to enjoy. With these gained perspectives and insights, I seek to be able to adapt my skill set and toolkit to whatever the times require for them to be in the future, as I understand that interactive design is an ever-evolving discipline that is not completely ‘future-proof’ in any sense. These perspectives and insights are ultimately ideas that, regardless of medium or whatever technology is available at the time, will allow me to be a versatile and effective designer.
