New York and San Francisco can be competitive and intimidating, but luckily there’s plenty of other tech hubs in America. Here are 5 of the most up and coming tech cities in America and why you should consider them for your next move, not just for the job opportunities but for the city itself too.

Austin, Texas
This Texan city has a relatively low cost of living and high salaries- what’s not to like? But wait, there’s more. Austin is also one of the most interesting and eclectic communities, hosting the slogan “Keep Austin Weird”. With plenty of live music, art, bars and restaurants, as well as cool outdoor opportunities like the Barton Springs Pool, you’ll never be bored in Austin.

Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta is full of small startups as well several major companies like Microsoft and Waystar, and the tech industry is currently significantly growing there, so the city’s tech future is bright. The city boasts year-round mild weather and hundreds of bars and restaurants. Additionally, Atlanta’s housing prices are lower than many big cities on the Eastern Seaboard, making it the perfect spot to land your dream tech job.

Denver, Colorado
“The Mile High City,” as it’s called, is a hub for technology jobs, with an active tech community. Set against the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Denver is home to a vibrant culture where young people will feel comfortable with tons of opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor activities as well as shopping options like the mile-long pedestrian 16th Street Mall.

Seattle, Washington
Seattle is definitely a tech hub, with more than 90,000 tech jobs posted in the last year, even as the city struggled from the effects of COVID. The city is also home to some of the best restaurants in the world (don’t miss the sushi!) as well as an infectiously healthy and outdoorsy culture. Seattle is also known as one of the friendliest cities in America, and you’ll certainly enjoy calling it home.

Boston, Massachusetts
This Northeastern city’s tech field is booming, with almost 120,000 open tech positions over the past year. On top of that, you’ll find many reasons to love living in Boston. It’s one of the most walkable cities in the country and has a world class transportation system, so you’ll have no trouble getting around to historical landmarks and great shopping opportunities.
