With student engagement at an all time low at college campuses and various student run organizations, college students are scrambling to find ways to make virtual interaction seem as genuine and comfortable as possible. In the upcoming weeks, GWU’s Kappa Phi Lambda plans to host their speed dating rush events online. Kappa Phi Lambda is a non-profit, Asian interest sorority located across the country.

They are planning to have their rush events on Glimpse, a platform where people in a virtual room engage in one-on-one, time-boxed video calls with fun features including icebreaker questions, mini-games, and a photo-booth. One of KPL’s rush chairs, Britney Goh, mentioned “I think that Glimpse will allow sisters to get to know rushees better through quick rounds without it being awkward having them not know what to say.”

GWU’s KPL is planning on using Glimpse for upcoming online collaborative events with organizations like APIDA and other greek organizations. We are looking forward to all the exciting and creative Glimpse events KPL comes up with!

If you are looking to organize virtual recruiting events, here are our best tips and tricks for using Glimpse :

  • Decide on a match time length, extension length, and amount of extensions that makes sense for your event
  • Personalize your event by adding your organization’s logo to the home page
  • Customize the match types so members can choose who they want to meet (i.e.: “rushees vs. brothers”)
