My first full day working with Eric, I executed all 11 intentions that we mutually agreed to shoot for.

Daily Activities:

Best:

It felt great to move, it had been a while. Though I had done cardio and some other stuff… I hadn’t actually “trained” in the year 2019. I was particularly pleased with how much water I drank… I don’t remember ever drinking that much water in a single day.

It was great to have Eric on the other side, watching what I was doing and stepping in with feedback and/or encouragement. He wasn’t always readily available to chat, but always told me what he was doing if he couldn’t… it made it feel like he was always there, just a message away for help or support.

  • We chatted in the morning, while I was at the gym, pivoting a bit from the originally planned training sessions as somebody else was using a piece of equipment that I had planned to use.
  • He checked in throughout the day mutually celebrating with me, as my intentions became reality, always providing context and encouragement.
  • I sent him all of the meals I ate and he responded with feedback.
  • Before I went to bed, we reviewed day one and planned a bit for day two.
  • Eric shared some of the things he’s focusing on in his personal journey, it was cool to see that he too is fighting the same fight.

Worst:

I’m already sore. Is that even possible?

Challenges:

I love to elliptical — it’s a time that I don’t have to return emails, talk on the phone and/or deal with any outside stimuli. I elliptical almost every day for 60–100 minutes, and while I know the return on time isn’t very high, if the objective is to get in better shape… to me the objective is more so just to think. My time spent “ellipticalling” is when I listen to books, podcasts, etc. It’s not something I’m willing to give up, as of now, but I’m also not naive to the “time-suck” that it can become. I’m constantly struggling with allocating my time and devoting 100m to cardio doesn’t help my cause.

Day One is in the books.
