Hey designers, welcome to Loom

When we launched Loom, we set out to build tools that help employers find quality web, app and mobile development partners to help them build new products or optimize their existing products. We did this to solve a clear problem many startups and early-stage entrepreneurs face: that finding quality developers can be difficult and time consuming — especially for those looking to efficiently leverage existing resources, like equity in their company.

Early on in this process, we noticed an emerging trend; that most of the projects posted on Loom were in the early stages of product development and were working toward a proof-of-concept or minimum-viable-product (MVP). In noticing this, we’ve paid special attention to these early-stage projects over the past year and listened closely to the needs of the entrepreneurs who posted them.

Along the way we learned that many of our employers have big ideas, sound business models and a vision for what they want to build, but they aren’t always ready to dive into web development. Many of these project posters need UX, UI, product and graphic design work completed before the development and launch of their MVP.

In addition to the needs of our employers, we’ve steadily received inquiries from passionate freelance designers asking when Loom will support both designers and design projects.

The opportunity to expand our services to both help our growing community of employers find quality designers, and to help talented designers find great projects was clear. So we got to work.

And today, we’re extremely proud to announce that Loom is officially open to designers.

Employers can now post projects to reach and hire various types of design freelancers, including:

Graphic designers
Logo/Brand designers
UX/UI designers
Product designers
Web designers
Industrial designers
Motion designers
Illustrators
Animators
Print designers
Presentation designers
Packaging designers

And that list will continue to grow based on the needs of our community.

Designers can prominently feature their work in their profile

In anticipation of this expansion to designers, we reached out to our network of freelance designers and have already seen validation in the form of designer signups on Loom.

Thank you for joining and supporting the Loom community. We are excited to hear from you and support you in bringing great projects to life.

Stay tuned for more updates on this front, and until then, keep designing and building amazing products.
