‘Edge Computing’ — knowledge generation to occur at the source of the data, a device becomes its own mini data center.

As Tiger Woods plans to reimagine age-old Jackson Park and South Shore golf courses, a small group of Millennials are reimagining the multitude of underutilized office and commercial spaces in the City of Chicago. A team lead by Alexander Jones has recognized the need for more accessible space for Professionals, Innovators, and Creatives to simply plug in their laptop and get some work done. However such spaces were not widely accessible outside of a local Starbucks not designed to meet the demand of a Coworking space. Realizing the abundance of underutilized office and commercial space, Jones set out to host a series of Coworking Pop Ups. However there was a common problem with underutilized office and commercial space in underserved communities — inconsistent internet.

A quick call (a few quick calls, meetings, etc.) led Jones to understand he had to bring the internet with him. What does bringing the internet with you to a Coworking Pop Up look like by Millennials with engineering and computer science backgrounds? — Self Service private cloud servers.

The Backpack Data Center

In a nutshell every intelligent, artificially intelligent, or machine learning device will use vast amounts of processing power — hundreds or thousands of PCs. This means every device becomes a data center of its own. Today, phones send everything to the cloud to be processed, the data is stored in the cloud, and the results are returned to the device. Edge or End computing devices will handle their own processing and storage locally on the End device.

This has made the Coworking Pop Ups very accessible and versatile. Becoming the turnkey solution for internet of things or even a mobile Virtual Reality room are a few of the endless possibilities. The ability to scale a data center down to a 12 x 24 case using a portion of the energy of a traditional server stack has made Hybridcloud solutions accessible to small and medium sized businesses. This has lead Jones to a current offering of Hybridcloud or Edge computing solutions. Jones plans to be the number one provider of Edge computing solutions in the nation. Making businesses smart to increase their capacity is a personal mission for Jones and for them to have fun along the way.
