‘GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)’ — a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images.

Those moving picture things you have no idea on how to make.

It may make more sense if we start with something we all are familiar with, Memo’s.

‘Memo (memorandum)’ — a written message, especially in business.

Wait a moment, if you are too young to have experienced all the cubical delightfulness of a Memo it is okay. You have seen plenty of them before, probably passed along a few yourself. The purpose of sending a Memo or Meme is to convey a message or status given said interests of the day. In fact, “Memo” and “Meme” are spelled the same if not similar in fashion.

‘Meme’ — an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another.

Where GIF’s meet Memes

A wonderful occurrence has happened. We are now able to add visual emotion to a once cold and sometimes funny status update. But how? Here I was always amazed when I would see amazing GIF’s take stage on Twitter. In the past I learned of ways to author my own but sometimes lacked the tools or expertise to manipulate those tools to find my desired result. I wanted to share a real-time status of what I was working on to my peers:

It is the middle of the night putting finishing touches on one Pitch Deck with the start of another for a client. Never too far in hindsight is the necessary time spent working on your own passions and aspirations. Being we are more connected than ever before with the miracle of Digital Borders, impact does not equate to everyone in the same room. UX, the Stuff hopes to reimagine, redefine, and reconsider how we design for interaction with the world around us and why the same User Experience responds back with us.

I thought I would GIF my journey on making GIF’s since they are an effective medium for the dissemination of information. It is said a picture is worth a thousand words, how many is a GIF worth?

1. Know your subject + capture it

If you have a smartphone and can capture video, you are in luck. There are out of box solutions capable of taking your video file and transforming it into a GIF. Others may be able to capture their workflow with software often used for online course instruction and or presentations.

2. Upload + Download

Yes, it is that straight forward.

3. Say Hello to Everyone Using GIF’s or Emoji’s
