Shorts Weather, Bananas, and #Breaking2

It was so nice to FINALLY get out running in shorts again. Yesterday and today were the first days I’ve gone without tights since… I don’t know… September??? Warm weather running is going to take a bit of getting used to though. For a brief moment on yesterday’s run, I thought “Ugh… it’s almost too hot now….” — but then I snapped out of it. It’s been a long winter — and it’s definitely time for it to end (although running outside during almost every day of it has made it one of the more bearable winters I can remember). That said, as much as I’ll enjoy the sunshine — I’m still hoping for a cloudy and cool day on May 21st down in Red Deer!

Bananas. Not my favourite fruit, by any means… but think I just ate 9 of them in the past 48 hours. Fuel for the fire.

#Breaking2. So, tonight, at 9:45pm MST, three guys are going to try and run a sub-two hour marathon. Nike has set up these marathoners in an optimal controlled setting (course, weather, pacers, etc) — with fancy, new, hi-tech shoes ($$$) — and they’re going to try to run a 4:34 mile, 26.2 times over. Bananas! It’s part marketing, part publicity stunt (think: Red Bull’s freefall from space), part science experiment, and part athletic performance. You can read about it here. I’m not sure if I’ll stay up and watch it, but I’ll definitely read about it tomorrow morning!

Thanks so much to the eight people who have donated $176 so far to the Hope Resource Centre. Also, thanks to those of you who have helped spread the word as well. It’s been a big encouragement to me!
