He describes how he first connected with an influential mentor (in the era before the cold email): “I wrote her a letter introducing myself, expressing that I was surprised to see that there were no programs for advancement of people of color in the company.” Soon after, he received a response inviting him to share his ideas about diversity. Fast forward to today, and he just launched a network to support the advancement of other underrepresented minorities in finance.
