The Racism Surrounding Greek Life at the University of Georgia

Issues of race have always been a problem in Greek life at UGA, but lately, it’s been receiving much more attention and more backlash. Many Greek life organizations have created committees to prevent further negative feedback, but after investigation, they seem to have no purpose other than for show. After talking with a past member who worked on one of these organizations, it’s clear that many students want to change, but are having a hard time starting the conversation. Diversity in Greek life won’t happen overnight, but it will take meaningful conversations and big changes to get the ball rolling.
