Habits
It is so crazy to think that most of the things I do on a day-to-day basis are just habits and not actually thought through. I have, however, noticed it sometimes. For example, when I wake up in the morning and brush my teeth and put on deodorant, sometimes later in the day I can’t remember if I actually did it or not because it was pure muscle memory. Or when I get out of my car I always immediately press the lock button without even realizing it, but when I get to the door of whatever building I’m walking into, I can’t remember if I locked my car or not so I lock it again. The cues and rewards method seems to be really accurate. There are so many cues in my life that lead to my muscle memory actions that I never realized until reading this article.
I think I do have bad academic habits that need to be worked on. As we already talked about in class, I have a bad habit of procrastinating on assignments, and I have a bad habit of underestimating the amount of time it will take to complete an assignment — which is completely unacceptable of me, and I need to be more responsible about my assignments and even day-to-day tasks.
