I am proud of you
When was the last time someone told you they are proud of you? Do you find yourself wondering and realizing that no one has ever said it before? It’s a painful reality check, but remember, you are not alone.
So here I am, as someone who rarely, if ever, has someone come to me and say, “I am proud of you!” I will take this chance to say that I am proud of you.
I do not know you. But, I know that we all face many ups and downs as humans in this temporary world. We come from different backgrounds. We have had different life journeys. But, during these journeys, we stumble. It is hard to bounce back. Even getting out of bed can be an achievement that we should be proud of.
I wonder, what kind of pain that has shaped you into the person you are now? What has life done to you to make you so wise beyond your years? In fact, you are wise because of what you have been through, alone.
I am proud of you for every little thing you do to make yourself better. Whether it is waking up in the morning, washing your hair, making your bed, or going for a short walk.
I hope you feel alive in the simplest of things. It could be the scent of your soap, a piece of toast in the morning, your favorite TV shows, or even your childhood photo album.
Life can be so cruel, but I hope you still want to try to survive. I hope you still want to get up in the morning, even if it takes you an hour or more to finally get up. I hope you still want to clean your room, even though you know it will be messy again in a few hours.
I hope you still want to survive because you know you need to stay alive.
I am not proud of you solely for your achievements or the great things you have done as a member of society. I am proud of you because you are a living human being with broken pieces, shattered yet still manage to shine.
I do not know you, but I am proud of you.
Thank you for keeping on trying and standing up for yourself.
I hope life will treat you better.
I hope that, one day, you will be able to breathe fresh air without feeling so much weight on your chest.
