i imagine fields of green
waving in the wind
seas of tall grass
just beyond the mind

somewhere there
we find each other
and we sit in silence
each alone, together

a ladybug perched
on the tip of your nose
a fire blazing
just out of sight

you tell me i look
like Fabian Evander
i laugh and tell you
i don’t know who that is

we’re on top of a hill
or the bottom of a valley
i honestly don’t remember
where we are matters little

what matters is you’re here
after being gone for so long
we’ll put your playlists on
we know the lyrics by heart

after a while, you’ll stand
and give me a fading smile
walk towards the horizon
because we know it’s for the better

i’ll watch you go
watch you disappear in the sun
stand up and wipe the grass
and silently ask if i can leave too

maybe one day we’ll meet
strangers in the street
acquaintances among friends
companions in the heart
