a year has passed and the books have settled in
my hands clutch torn blankets
the car drives quietly and the trees are a blur

five years have passed and the books on the shelves are fresh
the grass in the garden is yellowing in the bright sun
and the metal mesh of the fridge is decorated with colorful crayon drawings

ten years later,
large inscriptions are engraved on the door frames
a warm place to read books and dream

but dark clouds gather and the wind changes direction again

a new chapter is opened with every exit
but within the walls of this new home
there are always new stories
