A caterpillar is trying to leave to a newer place,
Going to find a new comfortable place to live,
A better place to find food and regenerate,
A safer place to stay without having to worry about tomorrow,
Trying to find a place in a huge worlds full of huge creatures.

But a way there is too far,
It’s too hard for such a small creature,
It’s too risky, the caterpillar could be crushed at any moment,

But the caterpillar still try, as hard as it could,
Slowly but surely, crawling to the safe place,
For better quality of life, for good food,
As it crossed the road, huge foots keep walking pass him,
For others it may looks like a single, forgettable walk,
But for the caterpillar, it was a threat of a life, it could die at anytime somebody passed,

One step, two step, three step,
One is closer than the other,
It was so close to getting crushed,
The caterpillar stopped crawling everytime there’s a movement surrounds it.
To some it looks like a prayer for mercy,
To some its a cry of fighting for life,
What’s really on the mind of the caterpillar, no one knows.

The closer the caterpillar get to the end of a road, the more dangerous it is,
The more people walking, stomping their way out, some even brought strollers, humongous things for caterpillar to avoid,
The more the caterpillar feels so close to the end of its life,
Inside its minds, the caterpillar probably wonder if its truly worth it,
If the other side is truly better, how come a way to get there is too torturous?
Why do the caterpillar have to struggle so much, sacrifice so much, just for a saying that the other side is better?

But even with those questions, the caterpillar still goes on, crawling as if there’s no tomorrow,
Minutes feels like decades,
Too tired to keep on moving forward, but the other side is just right in front of it eyes,
So the caterpillar keep on going, until if finally reach the end of the road.

It may not be as ‘good’ as what it initially expected, every other caterpillars think so highly of the place,
But the caterpillar is satisfied enough,
Now the caterpillar know it can do anything.

………………………………………………

Heyooo! Sekar’s here. I know I rarely did a writer’s side-note, but this time, I feel like I need to share it to you, the reader. So, this poem is actually made within 5 minutes while I accidentally see a giant maggot (yes, it’s not caterpillar) crawling it’s way while I wait for someone at a street. I was so disgusted by it I ended up paying too much attention as it tried to get somewhere I don’t know. Upon crawling, that maggot is almost stepped way too many times, I was so invested by it I ended up creating a poem while watching that maggot successfully went across. I don’t know what kind of destiny awaits for that maggot, but I truly thanked that maggot for giving me inspiration to write this.
