Loving you is the best emotion I have ever felt. Thinking about loving you makes me love myself even more

When Harry Met Sally… (1989)

Love comes in many shapes and forms. How can it have a single definition when each person experiences it differently for the first time?

My junior high school friend said she fell in love with her boyfriend because she learned kindness from him. She was always praising how kind he is.

My senior high school friend always came to me excitedly whenever her crush talked to her. She confessed to me that she liked him because he was fearless and courageous. What made the situation feel a bit silly was that when she found out he always viewed her Instagram story and this simple action always made her happy.

My friend whom I met in college reciprocated her boyfriend’s feelings and gave him a chance to date her because she felt sympathy for him. However, as time went by, she successfully developed her feelings and now she loves him just as much.

People find love in others for different reasons. We perceive love and it develops in different forms. This emotion can grow gradually through feelings of sympathy, admiration, kindness, or simply feeling safe being around them.

As for me, my love for you grows from how much your behavior resembles mine. I also see you in every piece of thing even though it doesn’t have any correlation with you. It sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? But it is the truth.

I really think we look alike but at the same time we are also different. We are two different people but fundamentally the same, just like two sides of the same coin. Your hobbies, humor, your past that you have told me, and the people around you incline me to consider how alike we are. Most importantly, I find that I easily agree with your opinions. Sometimes we argue, of course. But the way we strive to understand each other and recognize when something is wrong strengthens my trust in you.

Knowing you leads me to think that spending time learning about you helps me understand the definition of love. Loving you demystifies if love is like a magical potion that heals me. It causes me to rely on you more and more.

I sometimes think that God purposely sent you to me because we really belong to each other. Before meeting you, I didn’t even know how to love myself. But now, I’ve forgotten what hating myself feels like. I love you so deeply. Sometimes I see myself in you; doesn’t that mean I love myself too?
