Journal of Engaged Research (JoER) Call for Submissions — Issue #3 (Publication: July 2022)

--

Updated: March 30, 2022

Thank you for your interest in JoER!

JoER was developed to create a space for diverse individuals who may not have access to traditional academic publishing channels, yet who are involved in addressing critical issues in their communities.

We, the editorial staff at JoER, are excited to include student voices, learners, and emerging scholars alike to publish with us. JoER gives voice to those who take action, no matter their formal training.

Unlike traditional journals, we take an interactive approach with our contributors, applying the principles of mentorship and upskilling to guide contributors to the publication of their submission(s). We also fully encourage and support our contributors’ use of the many forms of expression that they may have at their disposal. All submissions are reviewed by appropriate topic scholars or professionals in related fields.

We welcome work that brings light to issues related to social structures and culture, including but not limited to: race, gender identity or gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, physical or mental health status, neurodiversity, language, or immigration status. This may include one or more of the following formats:

  • Op-Ed, Opinion, or Social Commentary
  • Research Paper
  • Artwork / Photo Essay — please include a written description of your work.
  • Visual or Performing Arts, Book or Film Review or Discussion
  • Documentary, Interview, or Performing Arts submission — not more than thirty (30) minutes

While we are flexible as to subject matter and length, we expect that Op/Ed, Opinion, or Commentary pieces generally will be shorter in length than a Research Paper, and all types of written submissions are limited to thirty (30) pages in length, including sources. As part of our interactive process, to be approved for publication, a member of the editorial staff may reach out to you for a follow-up discussion of your submission prior to Friday, June 3.
