Am I Good Enough For You?

A poem about my insecurities.

Looking in the mirror at my own reflection,
I can’t help but notice all my imperfections,
I’m not perfect, not even close,
sometimes, out of everyone in the room, I hate myself the most.

I can tell you five things right now that are wrong with me,
when I point out my flaws, you will be able to see,
that I am probably not the man you want me to be,
I’m just a mere mortal, I’m not the bee’s knees.

When your negative opinions of me seem to linger,
you can laugh and point your finger,
oh look, another thing I’ve messed up,
life sucks, I’ve had enough.

But here is the thing you need to know about me,
I’ve overcome a tremendous amount of adversity,
I’ve made a career out of rising back from the dead,
now it’s time for me to put these insecurities of mine to bed.
