The Ups And Downs Of Parenting

For those of you who don’t know. My wife and I had a baby boy a couple of weeks ago. We are both first-time parents. Everything that’s been happening to us is all new and unexpected. And yes, my friends, a lot has been happening. Late-night feedings, my son crying for various reasons, and us trying to find some sort of balance in our lives while supporting another human being. It’s been a wild ride so far — a rollercoaster of emotions.
Here’s something else that has happened to me throughout this process. My son has peed on me twice. He’s done the same to my wife. The disrespect this kid has for my wife and I’s dignity is outrageous. For all of you who don’t have children of your own and are considering having kids, take heed of my advice. Always expect the best but prepare for the worst.
Expect to have fun with your kids. Also, expect your kids to view you as their hero or role model. Build a strong connection with them and expect them to love you unconditionally. I can speak from personal experience that I’ve never loved another human being as much as I love my son. He only weighs seven pounds, but he has made a seismic dent on every aspect of my life.
