Touch-Somatics is a term I use to describe a system I created that merges movement, postural integration, clear thinking, and various “qi” based touch therapies.

When exploring the history of Touch Somatics you are looking at a a system built on a number of unique and distinct paths dealing with body, mind, emotions, spirituality, and culture through intentional rhythmic movement. Among the paths I speak of here are traditional dance, martial arts, ecstatic movement, gymnastics, therapeutic movement, and others

Many of these different threads crossed paths in the mid-to late 1800s. Two of the great pioneers here were Wilhelm Reich and Rudolf Steiner.

Wilhelm Reich (24 March 1897–3 November 1957) was an Austrian doctor of medicine and a psychoanalyst, a member of the second generation of analysts after Sigmund Freud.

Rudolf Joseph Lorenz Steiner (27 or 25 February 1861–30 March 1925) was an Austrian mystic, social reformer, architect, and thought leader.
