It’s hard to believe, but true, that the University Book Store has been in business for 115 years now. Or will be this weekend. That makes it officially older than Tom Wolfe (and far better preserved).

To celebrate the momentous occasion, the bookstore is throwing a celebration at all nine of its locations on Friday and Saturday. They go on:

Save 25% storewide* and receive a free University Book Store tote with your $15 purchase on Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10 at all University Book Store locations and ubookstore.com.

On Friday, January 9, join us for a full day of shopping discounts, giveaways, and visits from Ubie as we celebrate 115 years of service to our community.

Sale includes new, used and bargain books, Husky gear, supplies, headphones — including Beats — and much more!

In our U District store, we’ll be celebrating the occasion with free birthday cookies from Little Rae’s Bakery.

Make sure to also stop by our U District store on Friday for special treats provided by Little Rae’s Bakery at 10am and Molly’s: Grown to Eat at 2pm.

*May not be applied to your account. Excludes gift cards, shipping services, textbooks, reference titles, short discount book titles, wall and page-a-day calendars, café items, medical supplies, and all Tech Center products except headphones. May not be combined with other discounts or special offers and applies only to stock on hand. Valid January 9 and 10, 2015 only.

Here are some photos of its history they shared with us:
