The Blogger’s Advice to Himself

The thoughts came slowly, each with its own experience and in turn pleasure. They were lovely, they were heroic, they made him feel good.

They spoke of sharing experiences that would be of value, to his audience, and weaving the fiber of each experience into the most beautiful tapestry he could imagine.

They spoke of sharing good vibes, passing across information, your “you”, and the well polished truth.

They brought good tidings, and claimed to be the panacea he sought, but he knew that wasn’t the case.

He knew that no matter how hard he strove to tell the truth, it wouldn’t be enough, because his truth was his alone, to others it would be a beautiful lie.

Till they experienced the life behind the words for themselves.

He wondered why things were always this way when he got baked, why it all seemed so simple.

As if in response his mind whispered an answer he read on Quora a while ago; “The essence of life is to feel good”.

And in what seemed like no time, he recalled all the information he had read or heard about feeling good, using it to create a mini-philosophical rule to follow:

“Imagine yourself doing the things you always want to do. Those things you constantly dream about, they don’t have to be fancy, they can be simple, like dancing on your own in your sitting room, or cooking your own food, or working on a project that interests you, with people you find interesting.

And then just pretend that’s your reality, obviously you’ll see through the mask, obviously it’ll be a lie, but if it’s a lie that makes you navigate your life a little better, then I think you should go for it.”

That was his answer to life for this moment, and it was enough. While the high lasted.

“The blogger’s advice to himself.”
