For my assignment, I went back to Picayune and took pictures of an annual horseshoe tournament held by Mr. Howard and Mrs. Betty Jo Alexander. The tournament has been a tradition for 20 years with it now consisting of the original tournament members and now their sons.

Several members of the Horseshoe tournament enjoy their break while watching a second round match up take place. The round is contesting Max Spiers,26, and long time veteran of the tournament Monte Stuart.
Jonah Berry, 25, of Picayune, Mississippi prepares the crawfish. Berry was the winner of the tournament last year.
Connor Ball, 22, of Picayune Mississippi, decides on which ice chest to put his beer in. While Connor didn’t compete in the tournament he’s a longtime friend of the Alexanders.
Joe Mortimer and some fellow long time tournament members enjoy the first batch of crawfish. Mortimer is one of the original members of the first tournament.
Damin Alexander, 4, of Picayune, enjoys his four wheeler, that he received for Christmas this past year. Damin is the youngest child of the Alexanders.
Max Spiers watches on to see who his opponent will be in the next round.
Tyler Alexander, 24 and Tyler Moore 29 face off in the second round of the tournament. It’s the battle of the brother in laws.
Emily Alexander, 27, captures the game which pits her brother against her husband.
Connor watches on as Damin shows him how to play his favorite Ipad game.
Emily tries her best to get her dog Balto to pose for a picture. This is Balto’s first tournament.
David Hattaway, a long time veteran of the tournament celebrates taking home the 3rd place trophy.
Everyone gathers to watch the Championship round between Berry and Monte Stuart. Berry is hoping to defend his title and be one of the few members to win the tournament in back to back years.
Hattaway, Joe Mortimer and his son Jared, and Tyler pose for a picture now that they’re officially out of the tournament.
All the champs pose for a photo with Monte taking home 1st place, Jonah winning 2nd, David 3rd and Drew Pritchard taking home the Dog Trophy, which is awarded to who finishes last in the whole tournament.
The tournament culminates with the annual group picture of all the competitors. Monte Stuart secures bragging rights for the next year until the group meets next year on a late April weekend to hold the tournament again.
