I agree with the author as many journalists have confused the definition of objectivity. In journalism there are certain times when an opinion is expressed in the article and many people might see this as wrong but it is part of journalism. Also by using the opinion for further discussion or to lead a conversation about it, the opinion is basically shifted from subjective to objective. Objectivity is praised in journalism and is important and I fully agree that we as journalists have forgotten some of these lessons.

I disagree with a part of this tweet. One part I disagree with is where journalists should not claim the obtainment of truth. To me that goes against the whole purpose of journalism which is reporting accurate/truthful information. By not claiming the obtainment of truth, it makes it seem like the journalists are in doubt of their findings and it makes it seem unprofessional and as if the journalists are indeed reporting fake news.

I agree that CNN has not been objective at all times and that journalism is slowly dying. In fact, a lot of news stations fail to be objective at times and although CNN has a liberal bias they have remained objective for the most part. They are not as bad as Fox News who are extremely biased. The fact that we have reached a point where objectivity and fake news have become a big problem in journalism shows the decline of journalism.

With the current state of journalism, I agree that objectivity is a myth. A myth is a false belief and currently a lot of journalism is lacking objectivity. When journalism first started objectivity was everywhere to be found but now a lot of news stations, media outlets, etc. lack it. There’s a lot of fake news nowadays and as the tweet says we just have to try out best to turn this objectivity myth into reality.

I completely agree with this tweet as journalism is majority white, therefore this is a big deal. As the tweet explains some white journalists believe that by being journalists and remaining objective, they are already separated and not a part of white supremacy. That is not true as it is still a big issue and also sometimes there might be some journalists who do have racist ideals on the low but because of their profession are excused of their actions. That is not acceptable.
